8 Wondrous Stress Management Techniques - Especially For The Freelancers.

Stress is our body's reaction to the challenging environment. This century marks a new achievement everyday and the race of standing ahead of the others creates a mental pressure on the freelancers. An outcome of any event or thought can make us feel frustrated and this feeling of emotional and physical tension is stress.

However the definition as per the dictionary includes other factors of stress too, such as mental strain caused due to opposing or hostile situations.

Being a freelancer, I too face stress and anxiety is it's consequence every time. But I've recently started practicing certain activities to manage my stress. I am listing below a few of them which are my personal favorites and have brought huge changes in my health, productivity, energy levels and overall mood as well. Let's take a look at it.

  1. KEEP YOURSELF BUSY

Stress or anxiety is an outcome of empty mind. In order to avoid stress, indulge yourself in some productive activities.

How to search for the productive activities you can perform?

There are certain ways to do it.

Search out for a unique talent that you have and start giving classes for the same. For example: if you know how to dance, start giving dance classes. You may be good at baking, start taking small orders for cakes and pastries.

Ask your mom if she needs some help. Family is above everything. Rather than taking stress for the temporary or materialistic world try investing your time in your family.

Kill time by showing creativity. For example, try painting diyas and creating other decorative items this Diwali.

  1. PLAN YOUR DAYS

Freelancers wish to perform a number of tasks in a day. But there are times when we try to accomplish every task and end up performing nothing, at that time, stress knocks the door of our mind.

In order to be stress free, freelancers need to plan their day, a night before.

Mini Planners helps you in scheduling your routine.

  1. SELF CARE HELPS TO CALM DOWN A CHAOTIC MIND

We tend to spend our days under a huge pressure and workload. And the outcome is a dull skin and body.

Skin care or self care rejoices our mind and helps us work with more concentration thereafter. Taking a long bubble bath or even a small face masking session could be enough.

  1. JOURNAL

Stress expands itself to anxiety, when we don't have anybody to share our feelings with.

Journaling is the best thing to do in this situation.

Writing down our thoughts and daily struggles or even worries can really help lift the burden and also makes us look at the problems from a different angle.

  1. EXERCISE

Mental pressure arises when there is no or very less physical pressure.

Freelancers need to work over a laptop or a mobile phone which fills the pressure on their minds. According to a number of healthcare  providers and numerous scientific reader studies, exercising not only promotes better sleep, weight management  and a better heart health but also, it is one of the best stress management techniques out there.

A number of YouTube channels provide exercise guides for free and you don't even need to have a trainer for that matter in the beginning.

  1. A HEALTHY MORNING AND EVENING ROUTINE

Rise and shine!

I have experienced it by myself that waking up with the sun makes us far more energized and driven.

A person with better mood can kill the stress levels and can easily elevate self confidence and esteem in himself. Reduced level of mental fatigue, which is a virtue of waking up early, enhances physical as well as mental well being.

Our sleep schedule and bedtime habits play a huge role in making us consistent towards our work.

Essential Oils help our mind to relax and in some people it can also be a soothing way to generate new and interesting ideas.

  1. EAT AND DRINK HEALTHY

Freelancers do not have a field job. They need to work from the comfort of their bed. But this physical comfort creates a number of mental problems for them. Hence they should keep their diet full of nutrients and vitamins.

Eating at least one fruit everyday should be a ritual which makes their body and their mind glow. Drinking plenty of water is also one big deal in the lives of freelancers or even any person of any age .

If your job requires your seating position for a longer period of time,

a lot of water in your belly may ask you to get up anyhow and freshen yourself up (me giggling 🤭).

  1. MEDITATE BEFORE YOU SLEEP

Sleeping early is the key to reducing stress and anxiety. And the key to sleeping early and peacefully is meditation.

I, being a Punjabi girl, never miss to hear 'Kirtan Sohila' every time before I go to bed. This is a habit I received from my father. You can simply enchant "OM" or even "Nam-myoho-renge-kyo" for 10 minutes.

This chant, Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, is at the core of Nichiren Buddhism, on which the modern Soka Gakkai movement is base.
