Deputy CM Manish Sisodia today congratulated party workers on the victory of the ruling Aam Aadmi Party in four of the Delhi civil elections, saying it was a message to the BJP for the 2022 elections.
The counting of votes, which began this morning, was completed before 11 am.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's party won four wards - Kalyanpuri, Rohini-C, Trilokpuri, Shalimar Bagh.
The Congress won in Chauhan Bangar. The BJP, which had earlier won one seat, failed to win any of the five seats.
The people have shown confidence in us, and these results are proof of the good work we have done.
In 15 years people have boycotted the BJP, they have given the party zero.
The city, (BJP-ruled) Delhi Municipal Corporation is responsible for the chaos.
Today's results dictate what will happen next year. For our winning candidates, please be polite.
“We look forward to the opportunity to clean up Delhi," he said.
In a tweet, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia congratulated his party and wrote: "Congratulations to the Aam Aadmi Party workers who won 4 out of 5 seats in the MCD by-election. “
The people of BJP Delhi are fed up with the BJP rule.
"People will vote for Arvind Kejriwal's honest politics in next year's MCD elections."
The BJP, a relatively weak opposition in the Delhi Assembly, has been controlling three companies in the national capital since its 2017 victory.
However, the AAP won a landslide victory in the by-elections.
In Kalyanpuri, Dhirendra Kumar of AAP won by 7,043 votes, while Vijay Kumar of AAP defeated Om Prakash of BJP by 4,986 votes in Trilokpuri.
In Shalimar Bagh, Sunita Mishra of AAP defeated Surabhi Jaju of BJP by 2,705 votes. This seat was earlier with the BJP.
AAP Ram Chander defeated BJP candidate Rakesh Goyal by a margin of 2,985 votes.
The AAP controlled four of the five vacant seats after sitting councilors were elected as MLAs.
The fifth part was taken by Renu Jaju of the BJP who died in 2019. Both parties have accused the city of improper development.
